I hope you’re enjoying the summer. Whatever that means to you – beaches, boats, golf, mountains, hiking, kayaking, barbecues, boardwalks, fun with the kids, fun without the kids if they’re in camp – summer is also a good time to take on the task of bar/bat mitzvah planning. I’ve been thinking about how families can beset select a photographer that meets their needs and I think that when a you’re interviewing and selecting a photographer to capture the big day, it comes down to three things. Today, I’ll share the first:
#1 – Style
One of the key ways to differentiate one photographer from another is to assess his or her own individual style and artistic vision. Review various photographers’ work online – on their web sites, blog and social media pages as well as in person – ask to see enlargements and albums. Notice what kind of images speak to your sensibilities, which photographer’s work draws you back for a second and third look. Are you drawn to formal poses or more candid moments? Whatever style resonates with you, be sure that the images capture and convey the emotions of their subjects. The best mitzvah photos should give you goose bumps.
I’ll share the second key factor next week.
